How kick-ass copywriting can elevate your website

coming soon page

Have you ever landed on a website and wondered what it is the business is actually offering? After searching high and low to find what you’re looking for, you’re left feeling underwhelmed and a tad confused.

It’s not to say the business doesn’t offer an amazing product or service, it’s just that they’re not conveying their message effectively.

Great website design goes hand in hand with kick-ass copywriting. They’re a dynamic duo that when coupled together can absolutely WOW your target audience.

As a website designer, I ask my clients to provide all of their website content before starting the design process - that’s how important it is! Sure, you can create a design around most content, but when it has flow and considers the user experience, you can create absolute magic.

My tips for nailing your website content?

1. Let your personality shine through

People are more likely to engage with your offering if they feel as though they connect with you... the real you! If this doesn't necessarily work for your business, you can still ensure your brand has a consistent voice / persona that resonates with your ideal audience.

2. Make your offer clear

When your ideal customer lands on your website, you want them to know exactly what it is you can offer them.

Have a killer tagline that captures your audience's attention from the get-go, make it clear what it is you are offering, and highlight what it is that sets you apart.

3. Use call to actions frequently

Using frequent call to actions, such as a button (i.e. book a call, buy now, enquire today) will encourage people to engage with your service offering.

For example, if your main objective is to get people to book a call with you, then ensure this is suppppperrrr easy for them to do!

4. Boost your SEO with blog posts

Blog posts are a great way to boost your search engine optimisation (SEO), and show your audience that you are an absolute master at what you do!

Not only does it help drive traffic to your website, the content can then be repurposed across socials, marketing emails, and as a reference if you ever need to educate your clients / customers.

For example, I've reused my blog 'how to use your logo and variations' to educate my branding clients who are unsure of how to use their new logo suite. Rather than having to reinvent the wheel every time, I can send through the blog as an education piece!

5. Work with a copywriter that knows their stuff

If copywriting isn’t your thing, then leave it to the pro’s. There are some amazing copywriters out there that can help your business shine with their flair for words!

6. Download my website game plan

Last but not least, I've created a checklist that includes content prompts to help you plan out your website. As a bonus, it's FREE! Check it out here.
